I have just found the Arizona State University education website that discusses about using ultrasound for neuromodulation. The .edu site is fairly bare bones currently, but they do have a few moving pictures that show the effect of ultrasound on synaptic transmission. They also have a picture at the bottom that appears to be what the device looks like. The device is being used on an animal, so it may be a prototype. You can reach the site here. Thanks. They are definitely not just playing around with cell cultures anymore but I regret they have to use animals for this research.
What is also interesting that it doesn't come in contact with the skull but thay may be just because for mice the power is already more than enough anyway.
